Comunitat Valenciana Digital District will receive in the coming weeks the startups that have been finalists in its open innovation (OI) challenges. They are part of the ambitious program with which it has been possible to attract entrepreneurial talent inside and outside our borders, in the sectors of tourism, the forecast of meteorological catastrophes and climate change, and health.
The CEO of Digital District, Antonio Rodes, explains that “we are already in the final stretch of the three challenges that we launched last year. These programs foresee that a minimum of 17 startups settle in the Digital District to carry out the final phase of their projects. That is, carry out concept or pilot tests in real case scenarios, and advance in the mentoring of their business plans”.
To get to this point, many months of conscientious work have been necessary, which began with a call to the entire international technological ecosystem. The three companies contracted by Digital District to promote open innovation programs, —Globaldit & Barrabés.Biz for Distrito Turismo, the AGBAR & Gellify for Climate Change District, and Innsomnia for Distrito e-Health—they surveyed more than a thousand startups from all around the world.
Of these, the most interesting projects were selected, always with a view to solving real needs problems raised by companies, corporations and public administrations that are participating in the challenges as applicants for innovation in tourism, health and climate change prevention. But this strategy of capturing and retaining talent and projects does not end here. The innovative solutions that emerge from these challenges will be available to other markets, both national and international.
Win-win strategy

A win-win strategy, because these are two of the objectives with which the Government of the Generalitat, through the Department of Innovation, created this technological hub in 2018.
